Louisiana Baptists launch response for Haiti Disaster

ALEXANDRIA— As quickly as the news broke about the 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday, Louisiana Baptists began taking initial steps to facilitate a response.

The 7.0 magnitude tremor hit Haiti at 5 p.m. Jan. 12, about 10 miles from the center of Port-au-Prince, the nation’s capital, which has a population of 3 million. Sources say the quake could be felt more than 200 miles away. Early reports indicate massive damage, devastation and extensive loss of life.
