Louisiana College named Reni Mason and Patrece Carter to the position of associate athletics directors. They still assume their positions as head coaches of their respective teams.

Louisiana College names Mason, Carter associate athletic directors

August 9, 2016

By Brad Welborn, Louisiana College Sports Information

PINEVILLE – Reni Mason and Patrece Carter have been named associate athletics directors according to a news release by the Louisiana College Athletic Department.

Louisiana College President Rick Brewer and Athletics Director Dennis Dunn made the announcement Aug. 4 and their new positions become effective immediately.

Mason has been named the Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and Carter will serve as the Associate Athletic Director for Operations. Both also will continue to lead their respective basketball programs.

“Coach Carter and Coach Mason bring to these expanded assignments a deep commitment to the college’s mission and vision, accompanied by their unique gifts and experiences, which they will use to advance LC’s athletic program,” said Brewer. “Expanding LC’s NCAA Division III programs from 13 to 18 sports this year amplifies the need for these additional administrative/coaching positions at the college.”

Mason will be the primary contact for the athletic department in the community.

He will assist Brewer and Dunn in the planning and overseeing of marketing strategies for the individual programs and the department as a whole, as well as helping maintain and cultivate business and vendor relationships within the department.

Mason said he feels fortunate to have this new opportunity.

“It’s another sign of God showing me favor in my life and I am honored to serve at Louisiana College in any capacity that helps the college,” he said.

Carter will assist with the athletic department’s day-to-day operations.

She will help oversee travel arrangements for all sports, assist with personnel issues and serve as the department liaison to the offices of admissions, registrar, financial aid, student affairs, and residence life.  She will also help coordinate event and in-game promotions for on-campus athletic events.

“It’s definitely an honor,” Carter said, “It’s something I’ve been working towards.  One of the things I’ve been looking for is to remain in sports, whether I am coaching or not. Being given the opportunity at such a young age to be a part of athletic administration is like a dream come true. I look forward to being a part of the changes that are happening on campus.”

Dunn said as he was searching for who would fill the positions, the decision was clear he should promote from within.

“Both coach Mason and coach Carter are tremendous individuals with the ability to motivate and inspire others,” he said. “I’ve seen that first hand in the way they coach and relate to their players. Not in every situation is the right choice an easy choice, but in this case, it was.”
