LBC Deaths
ARCADIA – H. Rupert Sledge, 88, died May 5. Sledge was
a member of First church of Arcadia since 1924. He also served on the first
board of trustees for the Baptist Retirement Home (formerly Arcadia Baptist
Home) and was recognized by the Bienville Baptist Association for 74 years of
active service. Smith is survived by his wife, Margaret, two daughters and one
son. The family requests that memorials be made to the missions ministry of
First Baptist Church, Arcadia.
HODGE – V. Ardis Smith, 90, died May 5. He was a former Louisiana Baptist
pastor who served several Louisiana Baptist churches. Smith is survived by one
daughter, Jo Ann Smith Quaid of Shreveport.
