WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Executive Board to clarify
the relationship of the Directors of Missions to the various associations and
reaffirm the autonomy of the various associations;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Executive Board of the Louisiana Baptist
Convention rescinds any previously adopted recommendation for employing and
calling a Director of Missions and adopts the following employment options:
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Executive Board to clarify

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Executive Board of the Louisiana Baptist
Convention rescinds any previously adopted recommendation for employing and
calling a Director of Missions and adopts the following employment options:
Option One: That the associations employ, supervise and pay
the salary and expenses of the Director of Missions of their choice.
Option Two: That the associations enter into a contract with
the Executive Board of the Louisiana Baptist Convention, whereby the Executive
Board would employ the Directors of Missions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Executive Board hereby approves
and adopts the attached model contract for use by the Executive Board and participating
associations, which chose to have the Executive Board provide a Director of
Missions.
CONTRACT FOR THE PROVISION OF A
DIRECTOR OF MISSIONS BETWEEN THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF THE LOUISIANA
BAPTIST CONVENTION
AND ______________________________ ASSOCIATION (1)
This contract is entered into by the Executive Board of the
Louisiana Baptist Convention (hereinafter referred to as “Board”)
and _____________________ Association (hereinafter referred to as “Association”)
for the provision of a Director of Missions for the use and benefit of the Association
under the following terms and conditions:
1. This contract may be terminated by the association upon
giving written notice of its intention to terminate ninety days prior to the
effective date of the termination.
2. Board agrees to provide to Association a Director of Missions
(hereinafter referred to as “DOM”) at its expense for his salary and
benefits as provided for by the policies and budget of Board and to assist Associations
with program recommendations for associational missions.
3. In consultation and cooperation with Boards State
Mission Staff Representative, Association shall determine in its sole discretion
and in the manner it chooses, who it will call as its DOM.
4. Once Association has determined its choice of DOM, the Executive
Director of the Executive Board (2) shall present Associations choice
for DOM to the Administrative Subcommittee of the Operations Committee of Board
for its concurrence.
5. In consultation and cooperation with Boards State
Mission Staff Representative, Association shall determine the job description
and duties of the DOM.
6. In consultation and cooperation with Boards State
Mission Staff Representative, Association shall annually evaluate the job performance
of the DOM.
7. If Association in consultation and cooperation with Boards
State Mission Staff Representative determines that the services of the DOM should
be terminated, the Executive Director of the Executive Board (3) shall present
Associations decision to the Administrative Subcommittee of the Operating
Committee of Board for its concurrence.
(1) This contract would also be used for a grouping of multiple
associations together and using the services of one Director of Missions.
(2) The Executive Director is the proper person to present
this choice of DOM to the Administrative Subcommittee. He must present the decision
of the Association to the Administrative Subcommittee as the Association directs.
(3) The Executive Director is the proper person to present the termination
of DOM to the Administrative Subcommittee. He must present the decision of the
Association to the Administrative Subcommittee as the Association directs.
