•WEST MONROE – New Chapel Hill church: Earl and Jane Williams, honored for
50 years of gospel ministry. The Williams served as missionaries in Liberia
and the Ivory Coast from 1967-96. During that time, they organized a nationwide
evangelistic crusade in conjunction with the Louisiana Baptist Convention. Before
leaving the area, they were honored with the naming of the “Earl Williams
School” for children in kindergarten through the 12th grade. Since retiring,
the couple lives in West Monroe. The Williams were honored by New Chapel Hill
church in recent services, which included presentation of a plaque of appreciation.

LBC DEATHS
•ALEXANDRIA – Robert Harvey Bolton, 95, died July 15. Bolton was a member
at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria. A native of the city, he spent his
career in the banking industry. In 2000, he received the first Lifetime Acheivement
Award ever presented by the Louisiana Banking Association. Bolton served in
a host of church capacities. He also was a trustee for Louisiana College and
the Louisiana Baptist Foundation. He served in various community roles as well
and earned repeated recognition for his leadership and service to church, community
and business. He is survived by his wife, Gail, one son and two daughters.
•ALEXANDRIA – Glenn E. Bryant, 80, died July 16. The Oklahoma native served
as pastor of several churches from 1943 to 1965, including Emmanuel Baptist
Church in Alexandria, where he remained a member. Later, he served as interim
pastor of churches. He also worked at the Louisiana Baptist Foundation, including
a tenure as executive director of the state agency before retiring in 1987.
In addition, Bryant hosted a pair of radio programs and a weekly television
show. He was involved in a number of civic organizations and was recognizied
for various contributions. He was an author and is survived by his son and three
daughters.
