PINEVILLE, La. (LCU News) – The Center for Calling & Career at Louisiana Christian University will host a job fair March 16 for students seeking future employment.

LCU President Rick Brewer added: “Local employers continue to demonstrate their trust in the students who complete their college undergraduate education with Louisiana Christian University by joining us for this annual event. Employers realize students who are products of the University’s Mission and Vision are ready to lead, learn and serve in the workplace.”

Thirty-two employers are expected to be in attendance including RoyOMartin, CLECO, Rapides Regional Medical Center CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Caddo Parish, St. Landry, Grant Parish and Rapides Parish school systems.

Wildcat debate team to compete at national competition

PINEVILLE, La. (LCU News) — Five members of the LCU debate team will travel to Boise State University March 22-26 to compete in the final contest of the season. Four national champions will be crowned at this event, and debaters from LCU have a chance to win the top spot in the novice, junior varsity, varsity and professional divisions.

Seniors Shelby Cumpton, Misty Tanner and Toriance Fontenot, junior Phoebe Lim and sophomore Madison Clarke will represent LCU in a competition that features more than 40 schools, including California State University, Mississippi State University, the University of Arkansas and the University of Florida.

“Debate at the national level is both high-level and intense,” said Wildcat Debate Coach Brian Manuel. “These students that are traveling to represent LCU are seasoned debaters that have proven themselves in the trenches of competition.  I know they will do well and all of them have the potential to return home with a national award.”

The Wildcat debate team is recruiting new members for next season. Incoming freshmen and current LCU students are encouraged to reach out to Manuel at brian.manuel@lcuniversity.edu or 318.487.7389 for information on how to join the team.  Scholarships are available for team members.
