Louisiana College, your college, has made a choice to stand firm within the roots of our heritage and commitment to Christ
Philippians 1:27 says, Only conduct
yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether
I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are
standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the
faith of the gospel.
Louisiana College, your college, has made a choice to stand firm within
the roots of our heritage and commitment to Christ, Christian higher
education, and the promulgation of our mission – “to provide a liberal
arts education characterized by academic excellence, a commitment to
the preeminence of the Lord Jesus, an allegiance to the authority of
the Holy Scriptures, and a passion for changing the world for Christ by
the power of the Holy Spirit.” Will you stand with us?
Louisiana College is unified in the delivery of our mission. This
semester the faculty passed a resolution of support for our Board of
Trustees and the President of the college. The Academic Council also
passed a resolution of support for the Board of Trustees and the
President. In turn, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution of
support for the faculty. These resolutions confirm our support and
endorsement of one another as we collectively fulfill the mission of
Louisiana College, your college. Will You Stand With Us?
We have made a choice to seek out and employ faculty who are of the
highest academic standards, who profess Jesus Christ as Savior and
intentionally seek to share their faith through their personal and
professional lives at every opportunity. We employ professors like Dr.
Henry Robertson who came to LC to head our History Department from the
LSU system so he could enjoy true academic freedom and teach the truth
of the Biblical heritage of American history while sharing his faith in
the process; Dr. David Elliott, a Ph.D. organic chemist with 17 patents
with Gillette before coming to LC, whose passion is to teach science in
such a way that students interact with a Christian professor who boldly
shares that the Bible and science do not conflict because the Bible is
always perfect and true. We will advance LC as an institution of
academic preeminence serving our constituency within a distinctive
Christ centered setting. Will You Stand With Us?
On October 26, 2006, we were privileged to host the 41st President of
the United States on our campus at our 100th Homecoming
Celebration. Louisiana College has never before had a United
States President visit us. The event was phenomenal and it will
go down in our 100 year history as a milestone!
We are serious about bringing this type of prestigious individual to
our institution and will continue to do so in the future.
Louisiana College is also highly recognized in multiple capacities for
excellence. We have again been named as one of “America’s Best 100
College Buys” and “America’s Best Christian Colleges.” These
recognitions are shared by only a few other institutions of higher
education in the nation. As we continue in this historic tradition of
excellence, Will You Stand With Us?
Louisiana College is blazing the trail academically with new academic
programs. Two task forces have been established to study
development and implementation of new programs.
The first is for a new Law School at Louisiana College. Many talk
prolifically about the shape of our judicial and governmental situation
in the United States: but, we want to do something about it and
educating Christian judiciary is a great place to start. The second is
an Allied Health Center that will add the majors in areas such as a
Master’s Degree in nursing, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and
pharmacy. Graduates from these health care areas will go out to
minister in Jesus name all over Louisiana and the world. As we develop
new academic programs in Jesus name, Will You Stand With Us?
Now, we are boldly reminding you that we are yours, and we need your
monetary support to accomplish all of our goals. We are asking for a
one-time gift, of $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000 for the Centennial
Scholarship fund. Churches, Associations, and individuals can make a
difference in the lives of students who would otherwise not be able to
afford Louisiana College. Will You Stand With Us as we reach out to
these students across Louisiana and surrounding states to come and
experience the academic and spiritual excellence that LC offers?
The investment you make today will result in LC graduates going forth
and “changing the world for Jesus Christ” and truly making Louisiana
College the “Pride of Louisiana Baptists.”
