LISBON (LBM) – A Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief team has been deployed to assist residents impacted by recent winter storms in Lisbon, Portugal.

The team arrived in Lisbon on Feb. 13.

While there, they will work on a Baptist camp that will be utilized as a response hub. The team will partner with local churches to repair roofs at the Baptist camp and homes as well as conduct chainsaw work, LBDR State Director Stan Statham told the Baptist Message.

According to Southern Baptist DR officials, multiple storms this year in the country have caused 13 deaths, injured hundreds, left as many as 1 million without electricity and caused the evacuation of more than 10,000 people. Additionally, hundreds of homes suffered roof and tree damage.
