IN MEMORIAM
FARMERVILLE, La. – James H. Miller, a pastor of Louisiana Baptist churches for more than 70 years, died March 25. He was 89. Raised in Florien, Miller was licensed to the Gospel ministry on July 1, 1953 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Florien. He served at several Louisiana Baptist churches, including as pastor with First Baptist Church, Spearsville, on two different occasions for 25 years. He also served as pastor with Harmony Baptist Church, Glenmora, and Simpson Baptist Church, according to the Annual Church Profile. In addition to being on staff of churches, Miller served Louisiana Baptists as moderator of Louisiana, Mt. Olive and Vernon Baptist associations, and Executive Board member. He was a graduate of Florien High School and later attended Louisiana College. According to his obituary, Miller was preceded by his wife of 50 years, Shirley, his second wife, Mary, his parents, Clayton and Velma Miller; and his brother, Bill Miller. He is survived by his son, Alan (Sandy); his daughter, Jan Rachal (Joe); his grandchildren, Joshua Deere (Brittany), Katie Dupuy (Daniel), Kelsie Scharr (Jacob), James David Miller (Fiance-Kaitlyn), Aaron Rachal (Jordan), Avery Glass (Bryce); ten great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Linda Miller; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Self Miller and his second wife, Mary Bowen Miller; his parents, Clayton and Velma Miller; and his brother, Bill Miller. Memorials can be made to FBC Spearsville, PO Box 85, Spearsville, LA 71277. Friends and family held a service to celebrate his life on March 27 at FBC Spearsville.
