LCU hosts 6th Annual God in the Workplace lecture series March 21

(Wildcats Media) – Richard Blackaby, president of Blackaby Ministries International, will address what tools are needed to produce a Christ-centered business environment at the 6th Annual God in the Workplace Lecture Series, Monday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Guinn Auditorium. SBC Executive Committee seeks prayer

(SBCEC)—The President Search Team charged with finding the next leader of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee is asking for Southern Baptists’ prayers, and has provided a 21-day prayer guide with specific points of focus and focal Scripture references. SBC Bylaws assign the Executive Committee to serve as the fiduciary, the fiscal, and the executive entity of the Convention (in all matters not assigned to other SBC entities). BACKGROUND The position became vacant after Ronnie Floyd, the former Executive Committee president and CEO, resigned, nine days following a 44-31 vote, Oct. 5, 2021, by members (trustees) to waive attorney-client privilege in an investigation of the Executive Committee about mishandling sexual abuse allegations in the SBC and the mistreatment of sexual abuse survivors. There are no allegations of sexual abuse against Executive Committee staff or trustees. The Executive Committee vote was the result of a motion adopted by messengers to the 2021 SBC Annual Meeting which asked the Executive Committee to waive attorney-client privilege to facilitate an investigation into whether the Executive Committee properly addressed such matters. LCU receives major healthcare grant from The Rapides Foundation

By Staff, LCUNews PINEVILLE, La. (LCUNews) -- Louisiana Christian University was awarded $396,753 from The Rapides Foundation Healthcare Occupations Program for its social work and nursing projects. The Social Work Behavioral Healthcare Education and Workforce Improvement Project will increase the number of graduates seeking a master’s degree in social work. The program is projected to graduate 75 over three years with a behavioral healthcare specialization and commitment to work in the nine-parish service area for two years after graduation. Sheri Duffy, the MSW program director at LCU said the project, funded by The Rapides Foundation, is a joint effort of the BSW and MSW programs at LCU whose goal is to recruit, train and retain future licensed social workers in Central Louisiana. “This grant allows LCU programs to offer stipends to students which will aid them in continuing their education and in return students receiving stipends will commit to field practicums and future employment in agencies with behavioral health opportunities,” Duffy said. Pastor who lost son to brain cancer featured at Bouef River revival

WINNSBORO, La. (LBM) – Lee Faler, a Mississippi pastor who lost his six-year-old son to brain cancer in August, is bringing a powerful message of Jesus’ love as the speaker for the Bouef River Baptist Church revival. Faler, whose story will be featured in an upcoming issue of the Baptist Message, experienced God’s love amid a journey that took him and his family through a long and dark valley. "This ordeal has shown me how strong Jesus’ love is for us,” Faler told the Baptist Message. “He is not just sufficient to save. He is sufficient to sustain. LCU awarded nursing scholarship grant from Whitehead Foundation

(LCUNews) – A grant of $72,000 from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation of Atlanta has been awarded to Louisiana Christian University to fund scholarships for nursing students for the 2022-23 academic year. “The faculty and students of the Rife and Carolyn Saunders Division of Nursing are excited and appreciative of the LPW scholarships,” said Marilyn Cooksey, dean of the school of nursing. Cooksey said the funds, which are for students already enrolled, will facilitate nursing education and graduation of deserving student nurses. “We are grateful for the continuing support of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation for equipping a future generation of nurses who model the faith and values espoused by both entities,” said President Rick Brewer. “The need for nurses has never been greater, but the need for nurses who approach their work as a calling is significantly needed.” The LPW Foundation was chartered in 1946 for the “aid and benefit of poor and deserving Christian girls and women.” The foundation is the legacy of Lettie Pate Whitehead who inherited and ran a multi-million-dollar business upon the death of her husband. LCU students have strong showing at NRB competition

By Staff, LCUNews NASHVILLE, Tennessee (LCUNews) – Students from the Louisiana Christian University convergence media had a strong showing at the 2022 National Religious Broadcasters Concention March 7-10. Competing in the NRB’s Intercollegiate division, the LCU team walked away with trio of first places and three seconds. The National Religious Broadcasters Christian Media Convention is the world's largest gathering of Christian communicators and ministry professionals. The LCU students’ showing was highlighted by the team of Terrell Phillips and Dustin Morace first-place finish with their audio production of “Faith at a Funeral,” which they composed over a 24-hour period on site.
