Brian Free & Assurance will be in concert on Sunday, April 21,  6 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church.  Brian Free & Assurance is the # 1 Country Gospel group in the nation. They have appeared numerous times on TV, including on the NBC Today Show, Primetime Country on TNN, and Gaither Homecoming. Pineville High’s Debate Tournament hosted by LCU

By Phoebe Lim, Wildcats Media Pineville High School partnered with Louisiana Christian University to host the Cenla Classic Debate Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19-20. Five high school debate teams competed in the event: Caldwell Parish High School, Alexandria Senior High, Pineville High School, Ruston High School and Peabody High School. LCU benefactor Young leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion to family

By Elizabeth Clarke, Wildcat Media Ray Young, who with his wife, Dorothy, were the benefactors of the Young School of Business, died Sunday, Jan. 21 at his home surrounded by family. He was 94. The Youngs, longtime supporters of business and agriculture in Louisiana, made a significant financial contribution to Louisiana Christian University to advance the business program, and in 2021 the university established the Ray & DorothyYoung School of Business to honor their contributions. “Ray Young was a leader of leaders,” said LCU President Rick Brewer. “One of the most humble and brilliant people I’ve ever known. He loved Christ and Kingdom work exemplified by his devotion to First Baptist Wisner and service as a two-term Trustee for LCU. The university is forever grateful for the contribution he and Dorothy made to support our School of Business named in their honor. Undoubtedly, the first words he heard when he entered Heaven’s portals were ‘well done, good and faithful servant.’” Young served many years on the LCU Board of Trustees. Dew to NOBTS graduates: Speak the Gospel ‘with clarity and strength’

By Marilyn Stewart, NOBTS communications NEW ORLEANS (NOBTS) – Jamie Dew, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary president, called on graduates in Leavell Chapel, Dec. 8, to see graduation day not as a season of life ending, but rather the beginning of a time of much greater importance. Dew recalled his high school graduation to illustrate and explained how he felt at the time that life and everything familiar to him was ending until his principal corrected him, saying, “It’s not over. It’s just beginning.” “What you do next will be those things that end up mattering the most …” Dew said. “When you exhale on this earth for the last and final time, when the dust settles on your grave one day, [what matters] will be what you’re about to do next.” Drawing from 1 Timothy 4:6-16, Dew charged graduates to remain faithful to God’s word, walk with Christ, remain committed to following God’s call, live as examples of godliness, and steward well the gifts God had given them. Pointing to verses 6-7, Dew reminded graduates that they are leaving to serve in a culture filled with deceptive teachings and heresies.
