PINEVILLE – Nearly 500 flags covered a section of the Louisiana College quad as a memorial to the unborn Tuesday, March 20.

Each flag represented five lives aborted daily. Chaz Morgan, president of the Louisiana College Students for Life, told the Baptist Message the Cemetery for the Innocent served as a visual picture of the battle those who value life face daily.

“We’re out here to create awareness about the pro-life issue,” Morgan said. “We wanted to students to be aware of how serious this issue is in our nation today. We’re showing people there are pro-life people out there who stand for what they believe in.”

This is the second year the organization has hosted the Cemetery for the Innocent. Last year, more than 600 flags were scattered throughout the quad according to 2016-17 campus Students for Life President Hannah Terrebonne in a March 9, 2017 article that appeared on baptistmessage.com.

The Cemetery for the Innocent is one of several pro-life events the student organization has sponsored. Last month, they teamed up with other organizations for the third annual Louisiana Life March in CENLA, which drew more than 5,600 participants who marched for life from the campus to the amphitheater in downtown Alexandria.
