PINEVILLE, La. (LCU News) – The Central Louisiana Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for the Gene Rushing Court in recognition of longtime Louisiana College basketball Coach Gene Rushing.
In addition to the dedication, scheduled noon-2 p.m. Oct. 18 inside H.O. West Basketball Arena, the Legacy Award will be presented to Gene Rushing by LCU President Mark Johnson.
Rushing, Class of 1970, served as the head men’s basketball coach from 1986 to 2015. Before that, he served as assistant coach from 1974 to 1986. He retired from LC with a head coaching record of 335-431 over 29 seasons.
The Wildcat Spirit Award will be presented to Frank Ashley, Class of 1975, and Mark Haman, Class of 1996, will be recognized with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
The event takes place immediately prior to the Gene Rushing Alumni Throw Down event, which is part of the LCU Homecoming festivities.
