LCU welcomes support for Giving Tuesday

November 22, 2025

By Elizabeth Clarke, LCU News

PINEVILLE, La. (LCU NEWS) – Louisiana Christian University asks for your consideration and support this Giving Tuesday, Dec. 2.

There are many different ways to support the institution.

“Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity for the LCU family to come together and invest in our students’ future,” said LCU President Mark Johnson. “Every gift, large or small, helps us to Restore, Rebuild and Reimagine LCU to the glory of God. I’m asking our alumni, churches, friends and partners to join us on Giving Tuesday and help us equip the next generation of Christian leaders.”

The Louisiana Baptist Foundation is the university’s fundraising and donor arm and has spearheaded the cooperative programs within the Louisiana Baptist sphere. The foundation represents not only LCU but also the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, the Baptist Message and the Southern Baptist churches throughout the state.

Johnson said he is deeply grateful to reestablish LCU’s partnership with the Baptist Foundation.

“The Foundation’s commitment to Christian education and wise stewardship, under the leadership of Jared Price, allows Louisiana Christian University to expand our reach and impact. Together, we are creating pathways for students to discover both their calling and career, which will allow them to serve Christ with excellence in every sphere of society.”

The Louisiana Baptist Foundation assists individuals invest in the mission of Louisiana Christian University by facilitating special charitable gifts.

  • Stock and Other Investments: Gifts of appreciated assets such as stock, mutual funds, and real estate are an easy and tax-effective way to help rebuild, restore, and reimagine LCU. Not only do these gifts of appreciated assets avoid capital gains taxes, but they also oftentimes result in a greater charitable tax deduction for the donor than had they sold the asset and gifted the net proceeds.
  • IRA Charitable Distributions:A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA is a powerful way for individuals 70 ½ or older to make meaningful, tax-free contributions of up to $108,000 (in 2025) to support the mission of LCU while reducing their tax burden and satisfying their annual required minimum distribution.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities:A Charitable Gift Annuity allows you to receive a fixed income for life based on your age in exchange for a contribution of cash or other appreciated assets to the Foundation for the benefit of LCU. This income stream can begin immediately or be deferred until some future date, such as retirement.
  • Charitable Estate Gifts:Leaving a gift to LCU through your estate plan or beneficiary designation leaves a legacy of generosity that equips LCU to prepare graduates and transform lives for generations to come.

“Whether it’s a gift of stock, a charitable distribution from an IRA, or another special gift that invests in Louisiana Christian University, visit lbfinfo.org/giving to give now,” said Jared Price, executive director of the Louisiana Baptist Foundation.

The Foundation can also assist alumni and friends with establishing a last will and testament that provides a charitable estate gift to benefit LCU.

Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as a global movement designed to inspire giving back to the community and inspire year-round generosity around the world.
