NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary hosted its fall commencement ceremony Dec. 13 in Leavell Chapel on the school’s main campus. NOBTS President Chuck Kelley was the featured speaker.
Of the some 250 students who received undergraduate and graduate degrees, the following master’s and doctoral level graduates of NOBTS boast ties to the State of Louisiana:
Ronald Harold Thompson of Natchitoches received the doctor of ministry degree. Thompson is the assistant to the coordinator of missions and ministries at the District Eight Baptist Convention in Natchitoches.
Craig Matthew West of Breckenridge, Texas, received the doctor of education ministry degree. West is pastor of First Baptist Church of Monroe.
Jieun IL Yun from South Korea received the master of music in church music degree. Jieun IL Yun is pianist at First Korean Baptist Church in New Orleans.
Catherine A. Abel of Choudrant received the master of arts in Christian education degree. Abel is children’s director assistant at First Baptist Church of Kenner.
Bridget Kennedy Richards of Zachary received the master of arts in Christian education degree with specialization in women’s ministries. Richards is women’s ministry coordinator at First Baptist Church of Zachary.
Morris Shepher Lewis III of Shreveport received the master of divinity degree. Lewis is pastor of New Prospect Baptist Church in Prospect.
Benjamin Stephen Day of Baton Rouge received the master of divinity degree with specialization in expository preaching. Day is minister to students at Florida Blvd Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
Jenee Ratelle Clark of Baton Rouge received the master of arts in Christian education degree.
Timothy Marshall Johnson of Geneva, Fla., received the master of arts in worship ministries degree. Johnson is worship pastor at First Baptist Church of New Orleans.
Jarrett Ryan Fix of West Monroe received the master of divinity degree. Fix is student pastor at Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe.
Jonathon Andrew McCartney of West Monroe received the master of theological studies degree. McCartney is pastor of North Hills Church in Calhoun.
Brian Eugene Richards of Franklinton received the master of theology degree. Richards of an itinerant speaker with CrossEyed Ministries, based in Shreveport.
Thomas Lee Myers Jr. of Jayess, Miss., received the doctor of ministry degree. Myers is minister of students at Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City.

William Scott Byrd of Pineville was one of 160 to graduate during fall commencement exercises on Dec. 12. He received a doctor of philosophy.

LOUISVILLE, KY – Richard C. McDonald of Denham Springs was one of 207 master and doctoral students to have degrees conferred upon them during the 214th commencement exercises.
McDonald, who received his undergraduate degree from LSU (1998), earned a doctorate in philosophy. He is married to Nancy L. McDonald.
