Louisiana Christian to host student worship collaborative

November 20, 2023

PINEVILLE, La. (Wildcats Media) -- Calling all high school church musicians and worship leaders to join us at Louisiana Christian University! LCU will host its inaugural Nex Gen Worship Collaborative on Feb. 23-24. High school-aged praise bands will have the unique opportunity to visit campus and share their music while receiving quality feedback from our clinicians. All participants will be considered for LCU scholarships. “There are many students, throughout Louisiana and beyond, who are deeply involved in music outside of the school day at home and in churches, yet they likely have few opportunities to play in a setting like this,” said Jacob Wittkopp, coordinator of Department of Fine Arts. “We seek to do our part in helping to engage and equip the future generation of worship leaders.” Next Gen Worship Collaborative provides a place where students can share their talents and walk away with new inspiration and a broadened community. “We want to provide an outlet for youth praise bands to grow and learn more about worship and how to play skillfully,” said LCU President Rick Brewer.  “This annual event will also provide students with in-depth information regarding LCU’s new Worship Arts and Production major. … [Read more...]

The former president taught a popular Sunday School class and Rosalynn served as a deacon. In 1982, they established The Carter Center to address health crises, ensure fair elections and resolve conflict around the world. Rosalynn created and led the center’s Mental Health Task Force, having advocated for mental health reform during her husband’s time as Georgia’s governor and as president. LCU begins faith integration workshops for faculty

September 1, 2023

By Elizabeth Clarke, LCU News PINEVILLE, La. (LCU News) – Louisiana Christian University has adopted a new initiative during the 2023-2024 school year to integrate faith into every academic course. “Students coming to LCU expect to learn about faith and theology in the religion classes and in Chapel, but we want to be intentional about our mission and vision here,” said LCU President Rick Brewer. “We want students to know that no matter what their individual callings are professionally, that the Lord expects all Christians to be evangelists. We are preparing graduates and transforming lives because we know transformed people transform culture.” Each syllabus will include references to faith and how it will be tied to the individual disciplines students are studying. Additionally, workshops throughout the year will be held to train faculty how to be purposeful not only with integrating faith into their courses but tying it to the specific learning outcomes and subject matter of their courses.
