Memorial services set for Pastor Joe Senn

May 14, 2016

By Staff, Baptist Message

WINNSBORO – Memorial services for Pastor Joel Senn, 63, of Rayville will be held at 10 a.m., May 16 at Crockett Point Baptist Church in Winnsboro, with Eddie Wren and Robert Warren officiating under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home in Rayville

Senn was born Feb. 25, 1953 in Rayville and passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 in Rayville.

A member of the Louisiana Baptist Convention Executive Board and the Pledge Leadership team,. Mr. Joe was a member of the Louisiana Baptist Convention Properties, Executive Board, and the Pledge Leadership Program.

Casey Johnson, pastor of Bonita Road Baptist Church in Bastrop and a former staff member at Crockett Point, wrote this on his Facebook page, “Words cannot express my heart. There are feelings of sadness, yet feelings of joy. The Apostle Paul said it best, “To live is Christ and to die is gain.” His heart was to be with his people but he understood the glory that awaited him … glory that is indescribable. A glory that I heard Joe Senn speak of during the years of I spent in ministry with him.

“Yesterday, that indescribable glory became His own,” Johnson continued. “His faith has now been made sight. His presence will be missed but his legacy lives on.”

Johnson wrote Senn taught him a lot about ministry. “I remember when introducing me to someone, he would say “I taught him everything he knows.” And of course, he did teach me a lot.

“I know there will be a void at Crockett Point Baptist Church in the days ahead,” Johnson continued. “I know memories will overwhelm you and every hallway will speak the words of Joe Senn. The words that we speak and the words others speak will only remind us of his words to us,” Johnson continued.

“In the days ahead it is my prayer that most of all, we will remember these words Brother Joe always said, “Lets go be the church.”

Evangelist Bill Britt also expressed sadness at hearing of the passing of Senn in a Facebook post. Britt led a four-day revival meeting in early March that turned into a 14-day movement of God resulting in 197 people “walking the aisle” at the church, plus 60 more who did the same in two sessions at the local high school.

“My heart was saddened to hear of the home going of Pastor Joe Senn,” Britt wrote. “He was a faithful husband, father, and friend. He was truly a mighty man of God and a true soldier of the Cross.

“I had the honor of preaching for him and to see a great move of the Holy Spirit in those meetings,” Britt wrote. “I know he is with the Lord. Please be in prayer for his family and church family.”

Senn is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey V. and Evelyn Colvin Senn and his sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Senn.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Brenda Senn; children, Brad Senn and wife, Claire, Mica Holubec and husband, Kenny, and Sara Willis and husband, T.J.; grandchildren, Mattie Senn, Crosby Senn, Brady Senn, Cross Senn, Rylee Holubec, and Lane Holubec; brothers and sister, Dewey W. Senn, Don Richard Senn and wife, Charlene, Regena Senn Varvoutis and husband, Art, and Hal Senn and wife, Cindy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
