LCU business school forms partnership with Ron Blue Institute

PINEVILLE, La. (LBM) – Louisiana Christian University’s Young School of Business has entered into a partnership with the Ron Blue Institute, an organization that helps teach students about biblical financial stewardship.

The partnership will allow the school to access the institute’s library, courses and speakers. Additionally, the school will require all business majors beginning in the fall semester to take Biblical Financial Management, a new course based on Blue’s literature and eventually will create a center for biblical financial literacy, Young School of Business Dean Kenny Holt said during a news conference, Feb. 28, inside Granberry Conference Center.

“This alliance is another way we prepare graduates and transform lives,” Holt said. “We want to commit this alliance to the hands of God and pray that the blessings that flow from this day are all for the glory of His Kingdom.”

According to its website, the Ron Blue Institute “seeks to be a thought leader with great influence committed to changing the way Christians think, act, and communicate about financial stewardship, empowering the church, and changing the world.

The institute delivers biblically-based financial wisdom to the body of Christ by providing thought leadership and content through church, professional, consumer and academic channels.”

Blue, speaking via Zoom, said too often universities do not educate students about biblical financial literacy and the partnership will help business students become better prepared in that area.

“By taking this step, you are really setting yourself apart,” Blue said. “If you teach biblical finance, to me that’s a value proposition to a parent and I think it’s a value proposition to an employer that the student that I am hiring knows how to handle his life from a money standpoint. We need the university to be teaching it and to be proving it. I couldn’t be more grateful for you all saying we want to stand for something that we think has an opportunity to impact churches, families and communities in a very tangible, real way.”

LCU President Rick Brewer said the partnership will help students develop biblical financial literacy that will provide them with a significant advantage in the workplace.

“When employers seek ethical business leaders who clearly understand and apply biblical stewardship, they will need to look no further than Louisiana Christian University,” Brewer said. “I can’t think of any better set of economic principles to articulate this university’s vision to prepare graduates and transform lives.”
