n Training for the 56 youth, college students and adults who have committed to being part of the First Baptist Bogalusa summer mission trip set for July 12-20 to Gallup, N.M. is offered at 4 p.m. each Sunday. Elwood, a metal flamingo friend, is being used as a trip fund raiser. Bob Adams, pastor.
n First Baptist Minden, Brazil Mission Team, recently returned from Florianopolis. Wayne DuBose and W. D. “Step” Martin were recently hosted by missionaries as they traveled and ministered in Armenia. The church’s youth choir will minister in Southern California in June and a young adult mission team will serve in Nicaragua in July. Wayne DuBose, pastor.
n First Baptist Blanchard recently held a mission fair. Two fishing tournaments are planned to benefit missions, May 3 and June 7. A Fish Fry, Missions Auction and Bake Sale are set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Poke Salad grounds, Friday, May 9. Donated items are needed for the Missions Auction. Some items donated for past auctions were boats, horses, bicycles, tricycles, wagons, barbecue grills, tools, tool boxes, portable buildings, antique organs and garden equipment which netted $25,000 for missions last year. Proceeds from the bake sale are to go to the ladies’ ministry in Romania. A Brownsville Mission Trip is planned by the youth. They are collecting coins during the month of May in Money Jars for the trip. James Hill, pastor.
n Twenty Fort Polk soldiers serving in Iraq are to be the recipients of care packages prepared by First Baptist DeRidder at a cost of $40 each for filling and mailing. The Honduras Mission Trip Toy Drive is in progress. Lindsey Burns, pastor.
n An Oklahoma Mission Trip Vacation Bible School meeting is set for Baskin Baptist, 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 2. Churches in the Bayou Macon Association are involved in the trip. Jay Morgan, director of missions.
n Recent projects in progress or completed by volunteers at the Global Maritime Ministries Center, include plumbing and cabinets for the upstairs apartment and a fence. Volunteers are still needed to install doors, flooring and other materials for the second floor as well as donated materials. Out-of- state volunteers from Central Baptist Jonesboro, Ark. and First Baptist Jackson, Miss. assisted in the projects as well as those from North Monroe Baptist Monroe and Gloster Baptist Gloster. n Broadmoor Baptist Baton Rouge, recently held a golf tournament fundraiser that netted $1,860 for its youth summer mission trips. Roger Sullivan, interim pastor.
n The Baptist Collegiate Ministry of LSU recently set a record with its participation of 185 LSU students, BCM staff, adult van drivers and interpreters for its annual Mexico Mission Trip. Woodlawn Baptist allowed its church vans to be used during the trip. Steve Masters, director of LSU BCM.
n First Baptist Kentwood recently held On Mission Kentwood which helped people with small household/yard tasks and other miscellaneous tasks. Joey Miller, pastor.
n Northeast Louisiana Baptist Association is to provide training for working with “Truckstop Ministries,” at Cedar Crest Baptist West Monroe, 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3. The organization places mobile chapels at various truckstops throughout the United States and Canada. David Moreland, mission coordinator; Jerry Price, director of missions.
n “The Cake Team” of North Monroe Baptist Monroe, meets regularly to make and provide cakes to the Council on Aging for the homebound who receive “Meals on Wheels” lunches. The youth mission trip to San Antonio, Texas is set for July 18-25. Bill Dye, pastor.
n Calvary Baptist Alexandria, Children’s Missions organizations annual Recognition Service is set for Wednesday, May 14. The theme for the evening is Happy Days in Missions which will portray the missions education for the year. David Brooks, pastor.

The 23rd Annual Youth Auction of First Baptist Hornbeck, is set for 6 p.m. Friday, May 2. Proceeds are used to offset the cost of Mission Fuge. Bill Hines, interim pastor.
Celebration Church New Orleans, Global Impact Pastor Cornelius Tilton is to lead a mission trip to Togo and Ghana, July 26 through August 6. The mission team members are to lead vacation Bible schools for children, leadership training conferences for adults and to speak in local churches. Other mission trips scheduled for 2008 are Costa Rica, June 14-21; Brazil, July 11-17; MexicoYouth Trip, August 3-10; Honduras, Nov. 1-8. Dennis Watson, pastor.

Westside Baptist Bogalusa recently partnered with a mission group of 100 from Kalamazoo, Mich. in ministry and mission during Mission Bogalusa. Highlights of the event were rebuilding homes, lives and hope with numerous servant evangelism projects including distribution of 1,000 sodas/bottles of water with tag telling about the love of God and the church. First Baptist Franklinton Sunday School classes and other groups have been given the opportunity to respond to needs at a seminary in Matamoras, Mexico. The needs include laptop computers, software and peripherals at a cost of $1,200 each. Other needs are materials and labor for a married couples’ dormitory. In May, a group from the church will be going to seminary in Mexico and another group will travel to Eager, Ariz. The church newsletter also requests old ball gloves for a baseball clinic ministry. Calvary Baptist Alexandria received thanks from the Rachel Sims Mission in New Orleans for the 11,081 cookies sent to use in the children’s weekday programs. The goal was only 8,000. David Brooks, pastor.
Students from Nicholls Baptist Collegiate Ministries in Thibodaux participated in the annual Mexico Trip during spring break.
First Baptist Ville Platte, New Hope Baptist Jennings and Washington Baptist Washington joined in an evangelistic outreach to Mexico recently distributing food supplies, blankets and gospel tracts in a community called Pallet City where homes are made of wood pallets, tin and cardboard. The group plans to return on May 25 with a goal of reaching 700 families. They are to deliver 1-lb. bags of beans, 3-lb. bags of rice and hard candy. Call 337.308.0336 to offer help.
