Louisiana College Theater presents classic
“The Importance of Being Ernest,” a classic British comedy by Oscar Wilde is to open at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 through March 24 and March 29 through March 31, plus matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25, and Sunday, April 1. In addition, performances for area high school students are to take place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22 and Tuesday, March 27. Admission: $10 for adults; $8 for students. Artist in Residence to give piano recital
Katerina Zaitseva, Artist in Residence and piano instructor at LouisianaCollege, is to give a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in LC’s Presser Recital Hall. Zaitseva is to play works by Liszt, Schumann, and a rarely performed concerto by the 19th century Russian composer Glazunov. Zaitseva also is scheduled to perform this piece in May with the Corvallis Symphony in Oregon, and in June inMoscow, Russia, with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra.

LC radio station names manager
Scott Ramey a sophomore Media Communications Major from Nacogdoches, Texas, has been named station manager for KZLC-FM, the licensed FM radio station operated by LouisianaCollege.
Ramey has served as production director during the last year and was on the production staff his freshman year. He coordinated the broadcast of former President George Herbert W. Bush in the fall of 2006. In addition to his production and news responsibility, Ramey also hosts a weekly radio show.
KZLC-FM operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 95.5 MHZ, as authorized by the Federal Communication Commission.
Debate team participates in Florida tournament
Two LC novice debaters tied for third place in their division of the Marks Invitational Debate Tournament hosted by the University ofWest Florida in Pensacola on March 2-4.
Rachael Melancon, Lafayette freshman, and Kris Lee, Shreveport sophomore, both moved to the semi-final round from the preliminary debates.
Melancon was ranked as the top speaker in the novice division. Lee is a recent member of the Debate squad, and he is also a quarterback for the Wildcat Football team.
The LC varsity division entries did not advance from the six preliminary rounds. Representing LC were Ethan Boothe, Harrisonburgsophomore; Jeffery Boydstun, Dry Prong sophomore; Allison Steed, Pearl River sophomore and Haley Treas, Sulphur senior.
Louisiana College placed fourth among the schools participating.
The Louisiana College Zeta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma inducted new members
The Louisiana College Zeta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma, a national foreign language honor society, held an induction ceremony on Tuesday, March 13th for new members.
Inductees as associate members include: Kara Blanton of Shelby, NC.; Kelli Brasher of Pineville, LC.; Marie Champagne of Breaux Bridge, LA.; Blake Gardner of New Boston, TX; and Rachael Melancon of Lafayette, LA.
In order to be a member of Alpha Mu Gamma, students must exhibit exceptional performance in foreign language, as well as, maintain a cumulative 3.0 grade point average.
