I would like to express deep appreciation to our many friends across the Louisiana Baptist Convention. My wife, Genny, and I were truly touched as we received word that messengers attending the recent LBC meeting paused to pray for Genny. For those who were unable to attend the annual meeting, or for those who are not aware of our current situation, Genny and I were displaced, like many others who resided in St. Bernard Parish due to Hurricane Katrina.
I would like to express deep appreciation to our
many friends across the Louisiana Baptist Convention. My wife, Genny,
and I were truly touched as we received word that messengers attending
the recent LBC meeting paused to pray for Genny. For those who were
unable to attend the annual meeting, or for those who are not aware of
our current situation, Genny and I were displaced, like many others who
resided in St. Bernard Parish due to Hurricane Katrina.
Our home was destroyed as well as most of the
buildings and facilities of our church. Our entire community and church
family were evacuated and displaced across the United States.
On Nov. 11, approximately six weeks after Katrina
made landfall, my wife underwent emergency brain surgery at Our Lady of
the Lake hospital in Baton Rouge. Her surgery lasted five hours.
She developed an aneurysm of the brain that required
immediate surgical attention. Genny has now passed through the initial
crucial period of her recovery.
Her progress has been solid and steady, but she will
require extended rehabilitation. She has been transferred to a
specialized neurological hospital in Baton Rouge for rehabilitation and
recovery.
To those who participated in the special prayer
during the annual meeting, do know that we will never forget your
kindness. If you received e-mail prayer requests or
a telephone call requesting prayer prior to the convention, you will
never know how much your faithfulness to pray for Genny and our family
meant to us.
If this is your first bit of information about this
situation, please pray and have any prayer warrior that you are aware
of pray for continued progress and a complete recovery.
