Call Senators Cassidy and Kennedy to vote against the so-called ‘Respect for Marriage Act’

September 7, 2022

By Staff WASHINGTON (LBM)—Radicals in Congress are pushing a bill to codify gay marriage and force people of faith to recognize any union between two or more individuals as “marriage” -- regardless of the sex or age of the individuals, according to the Family Research Council. Likewise, Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Baptist, said via his podcast, Sept. 6, that without amendments to add religious liberty protections, the bill “would have massive consequences across our country,” allowing the Biden administration to target Christian “universities, K-12 schools, social service organizations, churches and strip them all of their tax-exempt status.” The bill needs 60 votes to avoid filibuster, meaning Senate Democrats must maintain solidarity among their 50 members and persuade at least 10 Republican senators to join them. The legislation is being advanced by Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio). Meanwhile, Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, all Republicans, have indicated their possible support, according to CNN. Call Sen. Bill Cassidy, (202) 224-5824, and Sen. John Kennedy, (202) 224-4623, and urge them to work to defeat the so-called “Respect for Marriage … [Read more...]

Instead of securing employment, Justin left with something far better than a job opportunity … he left with a relationship with Christ. Irvine, who along with LBDR Strategist Stan Statham, prayed with Justin onsite as he gave his life over to the Lord. It served as a reminder that all Christ followers should look for opportunities to share the ‘good news’ found in the Lord. “Anytime you can lead someone to the Lord it’s an awesome experience, Irvine told the Baptist Message. “On that day the timing was right, and he was ready to change his life for the Lord. A lot of people miss those opportunities but when it is there you must step up and allow the person to either accept or reject Christ. I’m so excited Justin was willing to turn to Jesus right then and there.” Statham, who has maintained contact with Justin for discipleship and to help him get connected with a local church, said the incident served as a reminder of the ultimate purpose of disaster … [Read more...]
